GPF cleaning for petrol cars. Yes, yours has one.
Direct-injection petrol engines carry a gasoline particulate filter, and most owners discover this the day a dealer quotes them for a replacement. The filter blocks for the same reasons a diesel one does — and cleans just as well.

The filter nobody told you about
Your petrol car has a particulate filter
Almost every petrol car sold in India since the BS6 transition uses direct injection, and direct injection produces fine particulates in a way that older port-injection engines did not. The regulatory answer was the gasoline particulate filter — a ceramic honeycomb in the exhaust, structurally very similar to the diesel equivalent, doing the same job.
Because nobody advertises it, the first most owners hear of a GPF is a warning light and a quotation. Petrol cars have a reputation for being the low-maintenance choice, so the assumption that particulate filters are a diesel problem is entirely understandable — it is simply out of date.
The failure pattern is familiar: short journeys, cold exhaust, incomplete regeneration, rising back pressure. What differs is the money. GPF units on imported and premium cars are among the most expensive exhaust components in the market, which makes the gap between cleaning and replacing wider here than anywhere else in our work.
What it costs to get this wrong
The replacement quotes on these cars are brutal
On a mainstream BS6 diesel, a dealer replacement filter is a painful but comprehensible number. On an imported petrol car it is frequently a multiple of that, because the part is low-volume, often imported to order, and bundled with labour that involves dropping or partially disassembling the exhaust.
Waiting time makes it worse. Where a common diesel filter might be on a shelf, GPF units for European cars are routinely ordered in, and the car sits while that happens. We have cleaned filters for owners who were quoted a three-week wait for a part that turned out not to be needed at all.
Cleaning removes both problems. The core comes out, gets flushed, gets flow-tested against its original reading, and goes back on the same car. No part number, no import, no waiting.
How we handle premium cars
Specialist removal, adaptation resets, and evidence
GPF work on premium and imported cars needs more care on the way in and out than a mainstream diesel job. Access is tighter, fasteners are more fragile, and several manufacturers require an adaptation or ash-mass reset afterwards or the car will keep reporting a filter that is no longer blocked.
We do the removal, the cleaning, the flow test and the reset as one job, and we hand you the before and after figures. On these cars in particular we photograph the core, because when the numbers are this large owners are entitled to see what they are paying for — and entitled to be told plainly if the core is cracked and cleaning would be a waste.
Doorstep service applies here as it does everywhere else. If the on-site diagnosis shows the job needs workshop equipment, we tell you first, take your approval, and collect the car free of charge.

Common questions
Answered
How do I know if my petrol car has a GPF?
If it is a direct-injection petrol car sold in India from the BS6 transition onwards, it almost certainly does. Turbo-petrol models across the market carry one. If you are unsure, send us the model and year and we will tell you — it takes a minute and costs nothing.
Is GPF cleaning different from DPF cleaning?
The principle is identical: remove the core, flush out what has accumulated, flow test it against the original reading and refit. What differs on GPF cars is access, the fragility of the surrounding hardware, and the adaptation reset many European manufacturers require afterwards. That is specialist work rather than routine work.
Why is a GPF replacement quote so much higher than a diesel one?
Low volume and import logistics, mostly. These parts are not stocked in depth, they are often ordered to the individual car, and the labour to fit them is more involved. It is also why the saving from cleaning rather than replacing is larger on these cars than on anything else we work on.
